The DJ as Wedding Captain

The big day of your Wedding has arrived at last. You are trying to relax and enjoy all that's going on because you know it's one of the most important days of your life. BUT a million thoughts keep going through your mind. Will the Grand Entrance happen when you are ready and through with your pictures? Will the people in your Wedding party be announced properly and in the right order? Will the Champagne for the toasts be ready before the toasts? Will your Special Dances be at a time you are ready?

Even if you have a Wedding Planner with you throughout the entire day these things can still go horribly awry if your DJ is not helping with and on top of the changing flow of the sequence of events. The all important Timeline. The smoothest and best Wedding Receptions, in my experience, are the ones where the DJ serves as your Captain. Your DJ must check to make SURE the toasts have been poured. They must CHECK to make sure the Bride is not in the Bathroom before announcing the Bouquet toss. Make sure you still want the guy who caught the Garter to put it on that young teenager or Grandma that caught the bouquet. A day of Wedding planner is great help but what if you don't have one? What if they don't successfully coordinate with the DJ? What if the DJ doesn't have a comfort level that the time is right to move ahead? Again, the best, smoothest, and most successful Receptions/Ceremonies are those where the DJ is fully engaged and checks out everything for you. This is not the time for you to have to worry if dinner is served on time, if the bouquet is available, If Momma is ready for her dance with her Son.....and on and on. If your DJ is watching every part of this for you then you can truly relax (as much as your excited nerves will let you) and enjoy every moment.

Don't get me wrong. It is great to work with a Wedding Planner/Coordinator who knows what they are doing. But they are not in charge of actually making those announcements, playing the correct music, and knowing when the flow needs to be shifted. Again the most glorious, smoothest, and best Receptions occur when the DJ is your Captain for the evening. If you don't have a planner staying till the end it is even more crucial that you look for this type of DJ that we insist on at Humble Entertainment (www.Humble-Entertainment.com )

You want to ENJOY your Wedding. You want time to talk to your friends and family without having to worry that you won't get "everything" in. What you need is a Captain, a point man, a gentle guide. And one with that sense of the moment. That feel for the timing. And that ability to realize it is all about YOU and to care that it is the greatest night of your life. Someone to line up your Wedding party for the Introductions. To watch and to know when the time is right for YOU to move to the next moment that will live in your memories forever. Someone to make sure the Photographer is not caught by surprise when that big photo op is there. To watch that you Video guy has a charged battery and a good position. To make sure the plates are ready for that cake and the Best man is ready for that toast. A great Planner is a wonderful help but they don't make the announcements and play just the right song at the right time. There is a reason that independent surveys show that a HUGE majority of Brides wish most that they had spent more on the entertainment. Because the DJ (gotta be honest....Bands can't do it) is the Captain of the Wedding ship. Your Wedding should never have any slight chance of being the Titanic but instead the perfect Cruise.

You need a Captain in your DJ.
